Moyer Jr. battles bad luck with Summer Nationals at Highland and Haubstadt

With Mother Nature winning at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) on Friday, Billy Moyer Jr. rejoined the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Saturday afternoon at Highland Speedway (Highland, Ill.) for the 17th round of the Hell Tour. (Josh James Artwork)

With a third-place finish in his heat race placing him on the sixth row for the feature, Billy was credited with a 15th-place finish after retiring with 12 laps remaining due to a blown powering steering line.

On Sunday afternoon at Tri-State Speedway (Haubstadt, Ind.), Moyer Jr. laid down the second-fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in sixth, Billy ran as high as fourth but pulled off early on lap 12 after a dirt clod knocked free his oil pump belt.
